Kimpton Entertains

My very first Kimpton Festival and my very first Kimpton Entertains. This is an annual talent show put on by the people of Kimpton, for the people of Kimpton. I thought I would play it safe with self penned song about the roads around here called 'Harpenden Driver'. Anyways, from the feedback I got, it seems like it struck a chord with the people of the village. Here's hoping for Kimpton entertained 2015!

Redbourn

A good night at Redbourn Folk Club on Thursday. Hosted by steve, there were a good crowd of musicians and always great banter. Personally, I gained 2 more strings and took my Washburn out for a  session, leaving the Tenor at home for a change.

White Horse, Kimpton

Another great night at the White Horse last night with great mix of musicians and singers. It was great to have a double bass last night to add some depth to the evening. If you are at a lose end on a Thursday come down (2nd and 4th of the month).

Easter break

Just had three days on the beautiful Ardnurmurchan penicilar of Scotland with the family. Spent a lot time working on some new (to me) traditional songs that have more of a 'singalong' feel to them. Working with an old friend Simon, who was great to colberate with but unfortunately we didn't get a chance to record.  With such a beautiful setting is was had not to be inspired to write....... Watch this space!!

Another great night at the White Horse pub in Kimpton (my local) for a great folk night. This fortnightly session is getting really popular and I counted 4 Bodhran (Irish drum) player last night together with a host of fiddle players, banjo, melodeon, guitarists and of course a tenor guitar player. In Kimpton the Hertfordshire council turn the lights out at midnight, I have never left with the street lights on! Big thanks goes out to Doug who runs this little session and all his local talented musicians. Next session will be on the 24th April.
My first ever visit to the White Horse pub in Hertford was great fun. Crammed into an upper room Pat runs a tight ship with fantastic acoustics and some superb peformances. Special mentions needs to go out to Paul Hilder who blew us away with gutsy performance of Lala on a Uke! Amazing! Myself and Richard have a longer slot on the 22nd July....come along!
